Summary: Protection, Automation, & Control Engineering Department - Control Engineer responsible for designing, configuring, and testing utility substation Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) systems and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in generation, transmission, and distribution substations. Also includes engineering responsibilities for SCADA collection on utility scale power interconnections and distribution automation functions such as Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR). Implement protocols that are transferred over serial and ethernet (TCP/UDP). DNP3 is presently most common which previous experience is preferred; training is provided if needed. Modbus and some legacy protocols are still present but are less common. Expected to learn and incorporate IEC61850 into systems when needed.  Works closely with stakeholders in System Protection, Operations, Design, Construction/Maintenance, Telecommunications, etc.
